Breaking News: A French modeling scout connected to Jeffrey Epstein has been found dead in his Paris apartment, with an investigation underway.
A French modeling scout linked to the late Jeffrey Epstein, Daniel Siad, has been discovered dead in his Paris apartment. The body of the 69-year-old was found on Monday night, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death. Authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death, according to reporting from Fox News.
Siad’s name appeared approximately 2,000 times in documents released by the US Justice Department relating to Epstein. Emails revealed Siad offered to provide Epstein with young women, including an email from 2009 containing images of a 17-year-old Slovakian model, Reuters reports. At least 24 women had previously come forward as potential victims or witnesses relating to Siad and others following the launch of a human trafficking and fraud inquiry, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau stated.
Siad’s lawyer, Menya Arab-Tigrine, claims he died of a heart attack, suggesting the “unbearable waiting, the stigma” and “daily pressure and anxiety” contributed to his death. She maintains he was never prosecuted or formally implicated in legal proceedings, asserting his innocence. Investigators had previously examined Siad, but found insufficient evidence for an immediate arrest, she added.
The death follows the unsealing of Epstein’s purported suicide note and ongoing scrutiny of his network. The investigation into the circumstances of Siad’s death is ongoing.
What Happens Next: An autopsy will be conducted to ascertain the official cause of death, and French authorities will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Siad’s death.
