Breaking News: An Iranian psychologist has been sentenced to seven months in prison after publicly urging Donald Trump to support Iranian protesters.
Seyed Ahmad Seyedabdollahi, 32, was arrested ten days after posting a video appealing to the former US President in January 2026. He urged Trump to act on pledges to support demonstrations against the Islamic Republic, according to reporting by Fox News Digital. He has been sentenced to seven months imprisonment and barred from public service for five years.
The psychologist was convicted of “engaging in media activities against national security” by the Borujen Revolutionary Court, Iran International reported on August 6th. Prior to his imprisonment, he was held in solitary confinement and subjected to repeated interrogations at an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence facility. A relative told Fox News Digital that authorities pressured Seyedabdollahi to record a video denigrating Trump and portraying Americans as “stupid and ignorant”, but he refused.
Interrogators allegedly accused him of being connected to the CIA and Mossad and of receiving funds for the original video. The relative claims Seyedabdollahi also faced mistreatment during interrogations and ongoing pressure within prison. Court documents obtained by Fox News Digital reference alleged foreign contacts and financial transactions linked to the US and Israel.
The case emerges as tensions between the US and Iran remain high, with the possibility of a “kinetic response” from Tehran reported by Fox News as the US tightens economic sanctions. Seyedabdollahi is one of several Iranians who appealed directly to Trump during protests in January 2026.
The psychologist’s relative stated he remained concerned for those suffering more severely during the government crackdown, adding, “Don’t feel weak. Our problems are insignificant compared to the thousands of people who have lost their lives.”
