Breaking News: Israel has revealed a vast stockpile of weaponry seized from Hamas and Hezbollah, illustrating Iran’s extensive support for proxy forces.
Israel’s Defence Forces have displayed a substantial cache of arms seized from Hamas and Hezbollah, revealing a diverse arsenal originating from Iran, Russia, China and even dating back to Nazi Germany. The weapons – including rockets, drones, sniper rifles and anti-tank launchers – were used in attacks against Israel, beginning with the Hamas assault of October 7th, 2023. Fox News Digital gained exclusive access to the IDF’s Tzrifin Base to view the captured weaponry.
The captured arms demonstrate the breadth of Iran’s support for its “axis of resistance,” with equipment ranging from Iranian-made mortars to Russian AK-47s and Chinese submachine guns. The IDF highlighted the discovery of a German MG 34 machine gun from the Second World War, apparently used by Hezbollah for propaganda purposes. Egyptian motorcycles, used in the October 7th attacks to transport hostages, were also among the seized items. Hezbollah adapted ATVs to carry and launch multiple rockets, capable of halting vehicle traffic. According to the IDF, hundreds of Iranian-produced mortars were recovered in Lebanon.
IDF officials stated that the captured weaponry highlights the need for continued Israeli security operations in Lebanon, even after the recent ceasefire agreement. Lieutenant Colonel (res.) Idan Sharon-Kettler explained that without Israeli intervention, “nobody else is doing that” work to dismantle the military infrastructure targeting civilians. The United States is leading diplomatic efforts to disarm Hezbollah and facilitate a staged withdrawal of IDF forces.
The State Department expressed cautious optimism about ongoing talks in Rome, acknowledging the difficulties posed by Hezbollah’s attempts to sabotage the process and domestic political pressures in both Israel and Lebanon. A next round of talks is scheduled for early September.
