Toronto Festival Shooting Leaves Two Dead, Multiple Wounded

Breaking News: A shooting at a Latin festival in Toronto has resulted in multiple casualties, with police investigating an active shooter situation.

A shooting at the TD Salsa on St. Clair Festival in Toronto on Saturday night left at least two people dead and three others injured, according to reports. Police responded to reports of gunfire at St. Clair Avenue West and Arlington Avenue at 8:12 p.m. local time, discovering an “active shooter situation.” First responders found five people with gunshot wounds, with two pronounced dead at the scene, Fox News reported.

The incident occurred during the 22nd annual celebration of Latin culture, one of Toronto’s largest such events, held in the Hillcrest Village neighbourhood. Authorities have not yet confirmed any arrests, nor have they established a motive for the shooting. Following the incident, the Toronto Transit Commission temporarily suspended train service at the nearby St. Clair West station due to a “security incident”, though regular service has since resumed. Police urged the public to avoid the area and comply with police directives.

The shooting has prompted a swift response from authorities, with a full investigation underway. The TD Salsa on St. Clair Festival, a major cultural event, was abruptly halted. The scale of the violence at a public gathering raises concerns about safety and security at large events.

The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses. No further details are currently available.
